Jim Scanlon’s practice focuses on the representation of businesses, healthcare organizations and individuals in complex litigation matters. Prior to his return to Northeastern Pennsylvania, Jim worked for a large metropolitan law firm in Boston, Massachusetts. He has represented clients in matters before the trial courts in the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts as well as administrative agencies and various federal district courts.
A significant portion of Jim Scanlon’s practice is devoted to commercial litigation, personal injury, stockbroker fraud/NASD claims and professional liability. He has defended complex medical malpractice, premises liability, employment, and liquor liability cases.
Jim is a graduate of Villanova University and the Boston University School of Law. Subsequent to his graduation from law school, Jim served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard P. Conaboy in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Pennsylvania, Lackawanna County and Boston Bar Associations.
Jim presently serves on the Board of Directors of the St. Joseph’s Center Foundation in Scranton and the Day Nursery Association. He is a volunteer attorney for the Lackawanna County Pro Bono, Inc. and serves as a Commissioner on the City of Scranton’s Ethics Commission. In 2008, Jim Scanlon was recognized by the Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal as a Top 20 Under 40.
Jim presently resides in Scranton with his wife, Victoria.
